Midori Browser 11.9.1 is a free, open-source web browser from Astian, Inc., released on 20 July 2026 and based on Floorp. You can download Midori for Windows from Astian's site; there are also versions for macOS, Linux and Android.
Midori is an old name with a new body. The project started on 16 December 2007 as a small, lightweight browser, and after several changes of direction it is now developed by Astian on top of Floorp, which itself builds on the Firefox engine. For users, that means websites render with Mozilla's technology rather than Chromium, and extensions made for Firefox generally work. Astian's pitch is a browser that respects privacy and stays light, with a clean interface and settings aimed at people who do not want to be tracked. Releases come often: the 11.x line received several updates between May and July 2026, which suggests active maintenance. The source code is public in the project's repositories and released under the Mozilla Public License and GNU licences, so anyone can check how it is built. Midori is a niche choice, with a much smaller community than the big browsers, and that is worth keeping in mind: fewer users means fewer eyes on bugs and fewer guides when something goes wrong. For experimenters and privacy-minded users who want something different from Chrome and Edge, it is an interesting option.

Midori runs on current versions of Windows, like the Firefox-based browsers it is built from. No special hardware is needed.
Download only from astian.org or the project's GitHub repository. Keep the browser updated, since security fixes for the underlying engine arrive through new Midori releases.
Midori suits users who want a Firefox-based browser with a lighter feel, people who like to try smaller projects, and anyone who wants to keep work and personal browsing apart by using a second browser. If you rely on sync with a large ecosystem of devices and services, the mainstream browsers are more convenient. A good way to decide is to use Midori for a week for everyday browsing and see whether any site you depend on misbehaves.
